NO MORE VIOLENCE

Presenters:  Diane Knust, LISW and Monica Yugu, MD, MPH

Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 12:00 p.m.

Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights

650 3rd Ave. S., Suite 550, Minneapolis

The Beijing Platform for Action (1995) states “Violence against women is an obstacle to the achievement of the objectives of equality, development and peace.  Violence against women both violates and impairs or nullifies the enjoyment by women of their human rights and fundamental freedoms.”  Violence against women is both a cause and a consequence of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  Our speakers will explore the complex connections between women’s human rights, violence against women and women’s health, with a special emphasis on the links between violence against women and the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
